Why AI tools get small businesses wrong
When the facts about your business are unclear or inconsistent, search engines and AI assistants fill the gaps themselves.
Your services are buried in paragraphs
Without structured data, AI has to guess what you actually do from page text and photos.
Your details don't match everywhere
A different phone number or suite on your site, Google and directories makes you harder to trust.
Your service area is vague
Without a clear list of cities, AI may not connect you to customers a few towns over.
Schema markup in plain English
What it is, what it does and what it does not do.
What is schema markup?
Schema markup is a small block of code on your website that describes your business in a format search engines and AI tools read directly. Visitors never see it.
Instead of guessing from your page text, Google and AI assistants get labeled facts: this is a roofing contractor, this is the phone number, these are the hours and these are the cities served.
Does schema help with AI search?
It helps AI tools be confident about the basics: what you do, where you work and how to reach you. Clear, consistent facts make a business easier to recommend.
It works best alongside a complete Google Business Profile, steady reviews and a page for each service and city you serve.
Is schema a ranking factor?
Not on its own. Google has said structured data is not a direct ranking factor. It helps search engines understand your pages and can make them eligible for rich results.
Think of it as removing doubt, not as a shortcut. Anyone selling schema as a ranking trick is overselling it.
What is JSON-LD?
JSON-LD is the format this generator writes, and the one Google recommends. It sits in a single script block, so it never changes how your page looks.
You paste it once into your site's head code and update it when your hours, services or service area change.

Common questions about schema markup
Does schema markup improve my Google rankings?
Not directly. Google has said structured data is not a ranking factor on its own. It helps Google and AI tools understand your business, which supports your local SEO and can make your pages eligible for rich results.
Will schema make AI assistants recommend me?
Not by itself. Schema removes guesswork about who you are, what you do and where you work. AI assistants still weigh your reviews, your Google Business Profile and your website content.
Where do I paste schema code?
In your website's head code. On GoHighLevel, use the Head tracking code in your website or funnel settings. On WordPress, use a header code plugin or the schema settings in your SEO plugin.
Do I need schema on every page?
Put your LocalBusiness schema on your homepage and contact page at minimum. Service and city pages can carry schema for that service or area. Only add FAQ schema to pages that show those same questions.
How do I test my schema?
Paste your page URL into Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator. Both show errors and warnings you can fix.
Is this schema generator free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, and the code is yours to use on your own website.
