Your description
Why most profile descriptions fall flat
It is one of the first things customers read, and most businesses rush it.
Written once at signup
Many descriptions still list services the business stopped offering years ago.
Too vague
"Quality service at fair prices" tells customers and AI nothing about what you actually do.
Breaks the rules
Phone numbers, links and promos in the description can get edits rejected.
Writing a description that works
What to include, what to skip and why it matters for AI.
What should the description include?
Your main service and city in the first sentence, the other services you offer, the areas you serve and what makes you different.
Write it for a homeowner deciding who to call.
What should I leave out?
Links, phone numbers, prices, promotions and all caps. Google doesn't allow them in the description, and edits that include them can be rejected.
Does it help with AI search?
It adds clear, specific information about what you do and where. AI assistants read your profile when deciding who to name, so clarity helps.
How often should I update it?
Whenever your services or service area change, and at least once a year. Keep it matched to your website and categories.

Common questions about profile descriptions
How long can a Google Business Profile description be?
Up to 750 characters. The first part shows before customers tap to read more, so the writer puts your main service and city up front.
What isn't allowed in the description?
Google doesn't allow links, phone numbers, prices, promotions or all caps text in the description. The writer leaves those out.
Does the description affect rankings?
Google hasn't said it is a direct ranking factor. It does help customers, and AI assistants, understand what you do and where, which is why it is worth getting right.
Will it make things up about my business?
It is told to use only what you give it, and never to invent years in business, awards, licenses or warranties. Always read it over before you paste it.
What do you do with my details?
We save your results with your name, email and phone so we can follow up. You can opt out of texts at any time by replying STOP.
